The SuperSonic SC-92P is a compact smart projector that streams over its own Wi-Fi, mirrors a phone screen wirelessly, and throws a picture up to 120 inches across a wall or ceiling. The native panel is 1280 x 720 and it accepts a 1080p signal over HDMI. When the movie ends, a built-in aurora mode projects a slowly rotating galaxy and star field across the ceiling, which is why this one ends up in so many kids' rooms.

Key Features

  • Streams without a laptop or stick: Built-in Wi-Fi and on-board streaming apps take it from the box to a movie on its own, and wireless mirroring puts a phone, tablet, or laptop screen on the wall with no cable across the floor.
  • Bluetooth 5.3 for real sound: The 3 W built-in speaker is fine for a quiet bedroom; Bluetooth 5.3 pairs the projector to a soundbar or portable speaker, and a headphone jack handles wired audio.
  • 40 to 120 inch picture: Set it 1 meter from the wall for a 40 inch image or 4 meters back for 120 inches, about the width of a queen headboard wall, all from a unit smaller than a lunchbox.
  • 180 degree rotating body: The lens housing pivots from the wall to straight up, so it works as a ceiling projector for lying-down viewing in a bedroom or a tent.
  • Manual keystone both ways: Vertical and horizontal image correction of plus or minus 60 degrees squares the picture when the projector sits off to one side of the screen.
  • Aurora galaxy light mode: A separate light effect projects six rotating Milky Way style galaxies with drifting aurora bands, so it doubles as a night light or ambient lamp when no video is playing.
  • 30,000 hour LED: At three hours a night the LED lamp lasts about 27 years, so there is no replacement bulb to buy and the unit runs cooler than a lamp projector.

What's Included

In the box: the SC-92P projector in white, an AC power adapter, the remote control, a lens cover, and the user's manual.

Before You Buy

  • The native panel is 1280 x 720, not 1080p. It accepts and displays a 1080p signal over HDMI but renders it at 720p, so plan on 720p sharpness at 100 inches and beyond.
  • It is a dark-room projector at 110 ANSI lumens. With the lights off it looks great; with a lamp on or daylight in the room the picture washes out, and the 1,760 lumen figure is the LED lamp output, not screen brightness.
  • SuperSonic lists built-in streaming apps without naming them. If Netflix or another specific app is a must, plan on plugging a streaming stick into the single HDMI port, which also means an HDMI switch for a console at the same time.
  • The built-in speaker is 3 W. Pair a Bluetooth speaker or soundbar for movie night; the internal speaker is a bedroom-volume speaker, not a backyard one.

Perfect For

  • Kids' and teens' bedrooms where the ceiling projection and aurora light mode are the whole point
  • Dorm rooms and small apartments that want a 100 inch movie screen with nothing mounted on the wall
  • Camping, RV, and backyard nights where a 1.3 lb projector and a Bluetooth speaker pack into one bag

Care & Use

  • Keep the lens cover on when it is not in use and wipe the lens only with a dry microfiber cloth; paper towels scratch coated optics.
  • Leave the vents clear on every side; do not run it on a bed or under a blanket where fabric can block the airflow.
  • Let it cool for a few minutes after shutdown before packing it into a bag.
  • Use the included AC adapter (100 to 240 V, 50/60 Hz); it has no internal battery, so outdoor use needs an outlet or a power station.
  • For the sharpest image, place the projector square to the wall and use keystone only for the last few degrees of correction.

Why a smart projector beats a TV in a small room

A wall becomes the screen

Set the SC-92P four meters back and the picture spans 120 inches, bigger than any TV that would fit a bedroom or dorm. Move it closer and it drops to 40 inches for a tabletop watch party.

Nothing else to plug in

Wi-Fi and streaming apps live inside the projector, and wireless mirroring pulls a phone or laptop screen onto the wall. The single HDMI port stays free for a console or a streaming stick.

The show after the show

Switch to aurora mode and six rotating galaxies with drifting bands of light cover the ceiling. It turns the projector into a night light, which is why parents buy it for kids' rooms.

The numbers that matter

Big picture, tiny box, no bulb to replace.

120 in Maximum image at 4 meters
1.3 lb Backpack-light projector body
30,000 hr Estimated LED lamp life
5.3 Bluetooth version for speakers

How does it compare to a mini projector or a small TV?

vs. a basic mini projector with HDMI only

A plain mini projector needs a laptop or stick plugged in for everything. The SC-92P streams and mirrors over its own Wi-Fi and sends audio out over Bluetooth 5.3, so it works alone in a bedroom.

vs. a 32 inch bedroom TV

A 32 inch TV is fixed to one wall and one size. This projector throws 40 to 120 inches, aims at the ceiling, weighs 1.3 lb, and moves from the bedroom to the backyard in one hand.

vs. a native 1080p projector

A native 1080p projector is sharper at 100 inches and usually costs and weighs more. The SC-92P renders at 720p, takes a 1080p input, and adds the galaxy light mode that 1080p units skip.

Fits your space

A lunchbox-size projector. Here is how much room the box and the picture need.

Height

Weight
1.3 lb
Throw distance
1 to 4 m (3.3 to 13.1 ft)
Image size
40 to 120 in
  • The 6.77 x 4.13 in footprint sits on a nightstand or a standard 12 in bookshelf with room to spare for the power adapter.
  • A 100 inch picture needs about 11 feet between the projector and the wall, so measure a bedroom before planning on the full 120 inches.
  • At 1.3 lb it rides in a backpack pocket, and the 4.96 in height clears a small camp table or a car dashboard shelf.

FAQs

Common questions that customers ask

Is the SuperSonic SC-92P native 1080p?

No. The native panel is 1280 x 720. It accepts 1080p, 1080i, 720p, 576i, 480p and 480i over HDMI and displays them at 720p resolution.

Can it run Netflix?

SuperSonic lists built-in streaming apps and wireless mirroring without naming Netflix. For guaranteed Netflix, plug a streaming stick into the HDMI port; it runs any HDMI source at up to 1080p input.

How bright is it, and does it work with the lights on?

White light output is 110 ANSI lumens, which is a dark-room projector. The 1,760 lumen figure is LED lamp output. Turn the lights off for a clear picture; daylight will wash it out.

Does Bluetooth send audio out to a speaker or receive it from a phone?

Bluetooth 5.3 is for sending the projector's audio to a Bluetooth speaker, soundbar, or headphones. Video from a phone comes in over Wi-Fi screen mirroring, not Bluetooth.

How far from the wall should it sit for a 100 inch picture?

The throw range is 1 to 4 meters for 40 to 120 inches, so a 100 inch image lands at roughly 3.3 meters, about 11 feet, from the wall.

How fast does it ship?

We ship to the 48 contiguous states and process within 2 business days, with tracking sent as soon as it leaves.

SuperSonic has designed portable audio and video electronics in Commerce, California since 1974, from 12V-ready TVs for trucks and RVs to soundbars, radios, and home theater projectors. The company publishes full specification tables for each model, and the SC-92P is its smart Wi-Fi projector: streaming apps, Bluetooth 5.3, and a galaxy light in a box that weighs 1.3 pounds.
