Oster's Clairborne caldero is the pot that does everything. Nearly seven quarts, wide enough to brown a whole sofrito and deep enough for a pot of rice, beans, stew or sancocho for a full table. Three millimetres of aluminium spreads heat right across the base, which is exactly why rice cooks evenly in a caldero and scorches in a thin pot. The non-stick interior means the arroz con gandules comes out in one piece, and the glass lid means you can see it happen.

Will it work on an induction cooktop?
No. The Clairborne is plain aluminium with no magnetic base. It works on gas, electric and ceramic cooktops. On induction it will not heat at all.
Can it go in the oven?
No. Stovetop use only. The Bakelite handles and the tempered glass lid are not oven components.
Why is a caldero better for rice?
Depth and gauge. At 3 mm, the aluminium spreads the heat across the whole base instead of concentrating it under the flame, which is why rice cooks through evenly rather than scorching in the middle.
Does the non-stick contain PFAS?
Yes. Gibson's public AB 1200 disclosure for this item names fluoropolymers within the PFAS class. We publish that rather than hide it.
What colour is it?
