Care & Use

Always preheat with the rack or basket inside. Allow at least 4–6 inches of clearance on all sides for ventilation. Cool fully before cleaning. Hand wash the basket, pan, and rack with warm soapy water; wipe the interior with a damp cloth. Empty the crumb tray after every use.

My new MegaChef Air Fryer Toaster Oven MCOV-1000 just arrived, double-boxed, and to extend the manufacturer's warranty from 3 months to a year I am required to leave a review. I haven’t cooked in it yet, but so far I’m impressed. Seems to be well built, and feet are properly positioned to keep it steady. Followed manufacturer directions to sterilize at 450 degrees for 18 minutes, using the “Preheat” function first. The initial funky smell is to be expected while the element burns off manufacturing residue. It took 4 minutes to preheat. Both the display and a beep indicate when desired temp is reached. None of the “noise” people complain about with competing models. Outer surfaces are just warm to the touch except for the back, which does get hot enough to burn. This is superior to most competitor models which get burning hot on all surfaces. I would not use the rear cord storage until the unit has completely cooled off. The fan remains running an extra 2 minutes after the oven is turned off, to expedite cool-down. The interior dimensions listed on Home Depot’s website say 14.5 x 12 x 8, but while these dimensions are correct, they do NOT reflect the usable area. The area available for your baking dishes is 13.5” wide, 11.25”deep, and 6.25” high from bottom rack to just below heating element (leaving .25” clearance). Cord is suitable for the wattage, has a 3-prong plug, and reaches 3’ 9” from the right side. Crumb tray fits snug and is easy to remove/clean. The instruction handbook is thorough and easy to understand, although they need to employ someone better skilled in English grammar to edit it. I would recommend reading the entire manual before using the oven. I see a lot of reviews on other models that clearly come from folks who didn’t bother to read. I have one single suggestion for improvement. There needs to be a way to adjust the display contrast. The lettering is a bit dim, and when looking down at it from a normal standing position it just looks like a blank lit up screen. I have to bend down and look at it more head-on. If any issues crop up with use I’ll edit my review, but for now I'm excited about this purchase.
