Trap the steam
Great crust comes from steam surrounding the dough as it bakes. The heavy lid seals that moisture in, turning the pot into a mini steam oven so your loaf comes out crackly outside and tender inside.

Bakery-quality bread starts with trapping steam, and that is exactly what the MegaChef 6-Quart Enameled Cast Iron Bread Pot does. The heavy pot and tight lid create a mini steam oven for a crackly crust and tender crumb, while the enameled surface means no seasoning to fuss over. It even ships with a silicone baking mat.
Here is what to know before it arrives:
Q: Do I need to season it?
A: No. The interior is enameled, so there is no seasoning to do and no risk of rust like bare cast iron. Just wash by hand and dry it.
Q: Can the whole pot go in the oven?
A: Yes. The lid knob is stainless steel, so the pot and lid are oven-safe up to 500°F, ideal for high-heat bread baking.
Q: Is it dishwasher safe?
A: No. Hand wash the pot, lid, and accessories to protect the enamel finish.
Q: Can I use it for more than bread?
A: Yes. It works as a Dutch oven for soups, stews, and braises in addition to baking crusty loaves.
MegaChef makes approachable cookware and kitchen appliances that bring restaurant-style results home without the premium price. This enameled bread pot delivers the steam-oven trick behind great crusty loaves in a piece that also works as an everyday Dutch oven.

Bare cast iron needs seasoning and rusts if you look at it wrong. This one is enameled, so you get all the heat retention with none of the upkeep, just hand wash and dry.
When you are not baking, the same pot handles soups, stews, and braises like any good Dutch oven, so it earns its shelf space several times over.
The heat retention behind a great crust.
A lidded cast iron pot traps the dough's own steam for a crackly bakery crust, where an open sheet lets moisture escape and leaves a softer, paler loaf.
Heavy enameled cast iron holds a steady baking temperature all the way around the loaf, instead of the hot spots a thin pan is prone to.
It bakes bread and then works as a Dutch oven for soups and braises, unlike a sheet pan that only does one thing.

Love this pan!
Great pan for baking sourdough bread! Cooked evenly and my bread got a nice oven spring as well! The color is beautiful and looks great sitting on my counter! It is durable and can be used for many different types of dishes where a shallow pan is needed. All in all a GREAT value for the money!
Works great for sourdough bread
Have used a few times with great oven spring results. Seems to heat up and retain heat well, I put in the oven while it preheats and for at least another 30 min before baking bread. Starting to get one small heat blister on the top but nothing my other pans don’t have as well.
