Brentwood HB-31 2-Speed Immersion Hand Blender – White, 200W with Detachable Stainless Steel Blending Shaft

I purchased this for soap making. It was gray for small batches, but overheated with larger batches. Cleans easily. This will now be for kitchen uses and I will upgrade for my soap making.

I bought mine 6 years ago for making soap. I make small batches ranging from 1 to 3 pounds and it is absolutely perfect for that. I am buying a new one now because mine has had its day and time for a new one. Would I buy this to make big batches of soap or soup for that matter? No. It is pretty basic but is fantastic for small jobs. If you are looking for a powerhouse, this is not the one for you.

I bought this blender 2 yrs ago for soaping i only make soap for my family so I only make about 3 batches a yr. This blender overheats very easy everytime I use it I have to use it for 2-3 min and let it rest to cool. It burnt up after just 5 batches of soap. Junk don’t buy.

For an immersion blender, you can't blend particularly deep pots of food. And if you work the motor too hard, it'll start to give a burning smell. After a long while of use, I even managed to crack the plastic a bit. I'm positive that this is as much my fault as it is the products. Meaning: I'm a clumsy fool, and this product can't necessarily stand up to fools. Moreover, it'll never blend as fine as a traditional blender will. However, for what I paid, I'm completely satisfied with this very mediocre hand blender. I use it to break down what needs to be blended so that it's small enough for my stand blender to take on, and it works great for that.

Fellow "DIY" people, this is one good deal! I didn't get a discount or anything for writing this review, but I wanted to let other people know that this is quite large and powerful if your looking for a blender to make soap, lotions or other DIY products. I hunted around for weeks not sure what to buy for soap making and I took a chance on this since it was just over $10 and I was only using it for soap making. So if anyone is looking for an affordable blender just for making products this is for sure a good buy.

I bought this 9 months ago and it has been the best little gem I never knew I needed. I have used this for a variety of things. Mixing soap. That is what I bought it for. But it also makes great green tea lattes and mixing small batches of things, plus smoothies, protein drinks, green drinks, hummus, etc. Whatever. Easy to use and even easier to clean. I am really just surprised how useful this little blender is. The retail price is also very good on this. I bought it because it had the best reviews for the least amount of money and I too can recommend this. I have had no problems with this blender whatsoever.

I have used this stick blender for around a month now. (Both to make soap and to foam milk for homemade chai tea lattes) For both of these uses, it performs great! My soap traced in around 5 minutes, and the milk foamed up nicely. Another feature that I like about using this stick blender rather than other mixers is that it has a guard on the blade, so you can put it all the way into a pot and hit the bottom with the guard without scratching the bottom with the blade. These two features, along with the low price make this into a great buy!

I have another stick blender I use for food, and I bought this one for making soap. After you combine the lye water and the fat/oil mixtures you have to stir until it comes to "trace". Using a stick blender speeds up the process and makes it a lot less work. I followed the advice of others and stir with it on for several seconds and then stir with it off for several seconds. Alternating on/off will help avoid burning up the motor, as these things aren't made to blend thick hot liquid for 10-15 minutes straight, they were designed to quickly blend food.

This is a perfectly serviceable, cheap hand blender. Is it going to last you for years? Probably not. But it's a great stick blender for people who don't need to use one often and don't want to spend a lot of money. I bought this when I started making soap, so I wanted a cheap one since I don't want to use it for food as well. There's a small crack in mine now, but it still works perfectly. I might get one that's a little more durable (and, likely, expensive) next time since I know I'll be using it a lot, but for the moment, this one is still going strong.

It's a good product, but make sure you aren't buying this to mix your coffee in a coffee mug. It will spill out....too strong for small applications. I like to mix butter and eggs into my coffee....something called a bullet proof coffee....whole other story. Google it. So I thought this would help without putting everything in the blender and waking up the house. Well, it helps to an extent. I have to put all the ingredients in a larger container, then mix with this. But it's still quicker and cleaner than a blender, and more quiet. Not quiet, but more quiet than a blender. So, still serves it's purpose.

I've had it for a few months, still working. It's easy to rinse off. I use it every day, sometimes 2 times a day to blend hot cocoa. It's much easier than getting the blender out. I only wish the on/off buttons didn't require using my thumb. They both have been injured from dancing; so it hurt a bit to push so hard and have to maintain the force. Wish it had an "on" button that would just stay on or less force required. Since the button have a flexible rubber covering, it makes for a clean tool.

You may not realize this, but you need this blender. Or, so I've learned! I originally ordered it for when I have paint or dyes to stir. It would live in my workshop/studio. However, I opened the package in my kitchen and this blender has never moved out. I'm delighted with how often it makes itself useful. To blend salad dressings and gravy. To stir sauces and dips. To mix hot chocolate and flavored coffees. The list is endless. Try it and you may decide, as I have, that you need two!!
