The Trulli takes its shape from the cone-roofed stone houses of Puglia and puts it to work in the yard. • The bowl is an open dish. The roof handles drizzle from above, but wind-driven rain and snow can reach the seed from the sides, so hang it in a sheltered spot and fill lighter during wet weeks
• It is a hanging feeder only. No pole, bracket, or shepherd's hook is in the box, so you will need a sturdy branch, beam, or hook rated for a filled feeder
• Squirrel-deterring is not squirrel-proof. The cone blocks climbers from above, but a squirrel that can jump onto the bowl from a nearby branch or railing will still reach it, so hang it 8 to 10 feet from launch points
• Open dishes need regular cleaning. Plan on dumping old seed and scrubbing the bowl every week or two, and after any soaking rain, to keep mold and droppings away from the birds
