- What it is: A 600W countertop hot pot that boils, steams, simmers and fries in one 1.5-liter ceramic non-stick pot

- The differentiator: A stainless steel steam tray sits above the water line, so you can steam dumplings while the broth simmers underneath

- Warranty: 1-year limited
- ⚠ Before you buy: Two heat settings only - slow and fast. There is no temperature dial and no keep-warm mode.
Brentwood's HPS-3172W is the appliance for the kitchen you do not have: a dorm room, an office, an RV, a studio with two burners already spoken for. It boils ramen, steams vegetables, simmers soup and shallow-fries an egg in a single 1.5-liter ceramic non-stick pot that weighs two pounds and packs into a suitcase. The ceramic coating is not PTFE, the glass lid is vented so it will not spit, and if you walk away and the water boils dry, the unit shuts itself off.
Key Features
- Ceramic non-stick pot: A PTFE-free ceramic interior releases eggs and noodles cleanly and wipes out with a sponge
- Stainless steel steam tray: Steams dumplings, buns or vegetables above the simmering water - two dishes, one pot, one plug
- Vented tempered glass lid: Watch the boil without lifting the lid, and let steam escape instead of boiling over
- Boil-dry and overheat auto shut-off: The single most useful feature in a dorm or office, and Brentwood built it in
- Removable power cord: The cord detaches, so the pot stores flat and packs without a tangle
- 600 watts on a 2 lb body: Small enough for a desk drawer, powerful enough for a real meal
- cETLus approved: Independently safety-certified for the North American market
Before You Buy
The honest limits, so this arrives as the product you pictured.
- Two settings, not a dial: You get slow and fast. There is no temperature control, no keep-warm and no timer. It is a boil-and-simmer pot, not a precision cooker
- Nothing is dishwasher safe: The pot is integrated into the base. Let it cool, then wipe it out by hand
- 600W on 1.5 L takes its time: It will bring water to a boil, but not at stovetop speed. Budget a few extra minutes
- 120V only: This is a North American appliance. Do not take it abroad to 220V

Frequently Asked Questions▼
Can I control the temperature?
No. The HPS-3172W has two settings - slow and fast. Slow holds a gentle simmer; fast brings water to a rolling boil. If you need a numbered dial, this is not the appliance.
Is the ceramic coating PTFE or Teflon?
Neither. It is a ceramic non-stick coating. Brentwood's California AB 1200 disclosure for this model lists chromium compounds, nickel compounds, manganese and siloxanes - and no PFAS or PTFE.
Can I put the pot in the dishwasher?
No. The pot is part of the heating base and cannot be removed. Let it cool completely, then wipe it out with a soft sponge.
Will it steam and boil at the same time?
Yes - that is the point of the stainless steam tray. Put broth or water in the pot, set the tray above it, and steam dumplings or vegetables while the liquid simmers below.
Is it safe to leave unattended?
It has overheat and boil-dry auto shut-off, so it protects itself if the water runs out. That said, treat it like any heating appliance and keep it on a heatproof surface.
Care & Use▼
- Let the unit cool completely before cleaning.
- Wipe the ceramic pot with a soft sponge and warm soapy water. Hand wash only.
- Never immerse the base, the cord socket or the plug in water.
- Use wooden, silicone or nylon utensils - metal will score the ceramic coating.
- Store the removable cord inside the pot with the lid on.
California AB 1200 disclosure (HPS-3172W): chromium compounds, nickel and nickel compounds, manganese, siloxanes and silicones. No PFAS or PTFE are used in this model.
Why Choose Brentwood?▼
Brentwood Appliances has been putting practical, affordable kitchen equipment on American countertops since 1988. The range is deliberately unfussy: one job, done properly, at a price that does not ask you to think twice. Brentwood also publishes a full California AB 1200 chemical disclosure for its cookware and food-contact appliances, which is more transparency than most budget brands offer, and it is why we can tell you exactly what is in the pan.
